The Domaine de Boissan vineyards are situated in the area of the Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux. It is one of the oldest domaines in the region of « Vaucluse ».
The owners, Cathy and Christian Bonfils, are both from families who have been winemakers for generations. The first winery was built in the 19th century. It was enlarged in 1898 and then in 1934.
Their new winery and cave were built in 1985 and additional cellars for the aging of the cuvees were added in 2000.
The Red, White and Rosé wines are grown on 50 hectares of vineyards spread over various terroirs belongings to « appelations villages or crus »: Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Sablet, Seguret and Villedieu.
From the commune of Carpentras comes the « Ventoux ». In these geographically diverse vineyards the grapes are harvested as they ripen. The vineyard is spread over 50 hectares: 3,2 hectares of ‘Séguret’ – 2,5 hectares of ‘vin de Pays de Vaucluse’ – 17 hectares of ‘Sablet’ – 3,5 hectares of ‘Vacqueyras’ – 9 hectares of ‘Cotes du Rhône’ and 17 hectares of ‘Gigondas’.
Cathy and Christian, and there childrens, are vintners who work closely with each stage of wine production from first growth, through harvest, vinification and aging, ever conscious of the importance of terroir and respectful of the land on which their vines are grown.
Their White wine is certified organic, the Red wine is in the process of conversion.
